Advocacy Alert: IRS issues May 1 extension for 41 counties impacted by Hurricane Helene

The IRS has issued a tax-filing extension to May 1, 2025, for 41 Florida counties impacted by Hurricane Helene. Those taxpayers with returns and payments with due dates postponed until Feb. 3, 2025, due to Tropical Storm Debby in Florida, will also now have until May 1, 2025, to file and/or pay.

Survey responses will allow the state to expedite Hurricane Helene recovery efforts by gathering data and assessing the needs of impacted businesses.

The Steinhatchee River near Cross City rose nearly 8 feet as Debby came ashore, and state officials said residents in the area could expect continuing heavy flooding into the next week.
