Extension of Certain Timeframes for Employee Benefit Plans, Participants, Beneficiaries, Qualified Beneficiaries, and Claimants Affected by Hurricane Helene, Tropical Storm Helene, or Hurricane Milton

The Department of Revenue on Tuesday announced that all Florida counties are now under an extension to May 16, 2025. Please be sure to note the specific county lists and effective dates listed.

FinCEN announced on Friday that victims of Hurricane Milton have until May 1, 2025 to file Reports of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBARs) for the 2023 calendar year. FBAR filings for calendar year 2023 would otherwise be due on or before October 15, 2024.

The Florida Department of Revenue on Wednesday granted relief to counties impacted by recent storms, including Hurricanes Helene and Debby and the severe weather that hit the Big Bend region in May.

The IRS has issued a tax-filing extension to May 1, 2025, for 41 Florida counties impacted by Hurricane Helene. Those taxpayers with returns and payments with due dates postponed until Feb. 3, 2025, due to Tropical Storm Debby in Florida, will also now have until May 1, 2025, to file and/or pay.

The FICPA on Monday sent letters to both the U.S. Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network and the Florida Department of Revenue, requesting filing relief for those Florida counties in which a major disaster has been declared.
