    - Uses and Abuses of the “Known or Knowable” Doctrine

Many times, a valuation is performed at a specific point in time. Based on valuation standards, generally only information "known or knowable" at the date of valuation is to be considered. However, depending on the type of engagement, say a divorce, a shareholder dispute or a tax-based engagement, valuation-affecting-events subsequent to the valuation date may be helpful in coming to a more accurate valuation as of the date of valuation. This session explores various circumstances when subsequent events could be used at a prior valuation date.
    • After this session, you will gain a good understanding of how to identify potential subsequent events that could be used as of an earlier valuation date.
    • You will obtain a grasp of previous court cases and valuation principles that will allow you to utilize subsequent events to achieve a more accurate valuation.
    • Finally, you gain an understanding of how to discern appropriate subsequent events in your valuations.
