James Sutton is CPA/Attorney and a shareholder in the law firm Moffa, Sutton, & Donnini, PA.  Mr. Sutton’s experience includes years with the state and local tax group of Arthur Andersen as well as CFO/in-house counsel for two construction companies (one residential/one commercial) before joining his current law firm.  Since 2011, Mr. Sutton has been focused almost exclusively on Florida sales and use tax controversy defending taxpayers against the Florida Department of Revenue.  With offices in Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, and Tallahassee, the firm handles audits, protests, litigation, appellate litigation, voluntary disclosures, revocations, collections, criminal investigations, and post-indictment criminal defense.  Mr. Sutton is long standing member of the FICPA, serving on several committees.  Mr. Sutton is also the state and local tax chairman for the American Academy of Attorney-CPAs and the president of the Florida Association of Attorney-CPAs.  Mr. Sutton is a frequent speaker on Florida sales and use tax topics for the FICPA, NBI, Lorman Education, FSEA, and other organizations.  Mr. Sutton was also an adjunct professor for Stetson University College of Law from 2001 – 2013 and for Boston University College of Law in 2014, teaching State and Local Taxation.
