About The Instructor

Harold L. Monk, Jr. is a nationally known expert on accounting and auditing matters  and has been instrumental in the drafting, issuance and interpretation of national auditing standards. Active within the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), Harold previously served as the Chairman of the Auditing Standards Board, member of the Board of Directors, and Chairman of the Private Companies Practice Section of the Institute. In 2002 Harold was appointed to the GAO's Advisory Council on Auditing Standards by U.S. Comptroller General David Walker where he continues to serve. Harold also recently completed four years service on the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council, and also served as President of the Accounting Research Association. Harold currently serves on the Appointments Panel for the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB). Harold was awarded the AICPA's highest honor, the gold medal for distinguished service in 2010.

Locally, Harold has also held a position on the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) Board of Governors. Harold has served on the adjunct faculty of the University of Florida's Fisher School of Accounting as an auditing instructor and has had articles published in the Florida Accounting News, the CPA Journal, and the Journal of Accountancy.

Accounting Today named Harold one of the 100 most influential people in accounting for four consecutive years. He has also been recognized as an outstanding instructor by both the AICPA and FICPA for numerous years. Harold continues to be an active speaker throughout the country on accounting and auditing issues.
