Fred Peters is a practicing CPA, licensed in Illinois and Florida, with his firm, Frederick D. Peters, P.A., in Weeki Wachee (North Suncoast). His clients are primarily individuals who are foreign, small businesses with foreign suppliers, or foreign partners doing business in the U.S. He has over 30 years experience primarily with small to medium- sized businesses which are American subsidiaries of European corporations that have their presence in multiple U.S. states.
Fred's work experience began with the Office of Hearings and Appeals of Social Security Administration in the Great Lakes region. He changed careers and became a certified public accountant with a small Chicago, Illinois public accounting firm which served U.S. subsidiaries of foreign corporations in the tooling, automotive, plastics, import distribution, robotic, and aircraft industries. Then, Fred moved into the tax department of GE Railcar Services Corp. which leases railcars and repairs them in the U.S. and Canada. After three years, he returned to public accounting with his own firm and provided consulting services to his former public accounting firm employer. In 1998, he relocated to Florida.
Fred has a bachelor's degree in sociology from Loyola University in Chicago and a master's degree in taxation from DePaul University of Chicago. He is a member of the AICPA and the FICPA. He was recently the president of the Nature Coast chapter of Florida Society of Accountants. This organization maintains high standards of professionalism and integrity of its members who are tax preparers and businesses offering small accounting services.
Fred has been a member of the FICPA since 1998 and of the MAP Section since 2003. Fred is the FY 2009-10 MAP Section Steering Committee Chair and was the FY 2008-09 Vice Chair.
