Elisa was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Her parents are originally from Sicily, Italy so traveling around the world is one of her hobbies. Elisa and her family moved to Florida 20 years ago.
With a Bachelor’s in Accounting from Lynn University in Boca Raton, Elisa continued her education at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale where she obtained her Masters in Accounting with a Tax Specialization in 1998. Elisa passed the CPA exam in 2004 and has an active license today.
Elisa has worked in the accounting field since she was 16 years old as she already had a passion for Accounting. She had the opportunity to work for large accounting firms such as KPMG Peat Marwick, LLP (1998) and BDO Seidman, LLP (1998 - 2002) to obtain the knowledge needed to pass the CPA exam and have her own CPA Firm today. She has also worked for a smaller family owned CPA firm, Vargas & Ghigliotty, LLP (2002 - 2005), where she received a more hands-on experience with clients and learned the day-to-day aspects of owning a firm, which helped bring her to where she is now.
After buying-out the previous owner of Accounting Management Advisors, Inc. in April 2005, Elisa has been on her own since. Though the move to become a business owner was a scary one at first, as it probably is for all business owners, she got over that feeling in the first year. The enjoyment she gets from her client relationships and what she learns from their businesses and experience has truly made a difference. Accounting Management Advisors, Inc. provides a variety of services including Accounting, Bookkeeping, Payroll, Income Taxes Preparation and Planning, Incorporations, Estate Planning and Financial Services to both Individual and Corporate Clients.
Elisa is an active member of the Florida Institute of CPAs, American Institute of CPAs, American Women’s Society of CPAs (AWSCPA), National Association of Female Executives (NAFE), National Society of Accountants (NSA), National Association of Professional Women, The Greater Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce and the Palms West Chamber of Commerce.
In her personal time Elisa enjoys visiting different countries and their cultures. During a trip to Egypt in 2004 Elisa watched a belly dancer and was impressed with the beauty and skill of the art form and thought it looked like a great form of exercise. Elisa has been dancing since that trip and has experienced that it is definitely great exercise – which helps keep her stress-free during tax season! Elisa also loves spending time with her family, friends and, of course, her little fur-baby Bailey (a 10-year old Miniature Pinscher).
Elisa has been a member of the FICPA since 2004 and of the Accounting and Auditing Section since 2008.
