The FICPA's Committee on Nominations is now accepting applications for its 2009-10 Executive Committee and Board of Governors. The deadline for all applications is Dec. 8, 2008, for current Board members and by Dec. 31, 2008, for all other applicants.

CPA Volunteers Needed
Florida’s Financial Fitness Friday, Nov. 14
Volunteers from across the state are needed to respond to phone calls and questions posted online from consumers throughout Florida during Financial Fitness Friday on Nov. 14. Now more than ever, Floridians need the expertise of CPAs. Florida is second in the nation in home foreclosures. Volunteers will receive information and training (voluntary), and have the option of working at the FICPA office or from your own office in two-hour shifts.

FASB Board Reaches Consensus on FIN 48
At its Oct. 1, 2008 meeting, the FASB Board redeliberated the applicability of FASB Interpretation No. 48, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes, to private companies. The Board reached consensuses related to the proposed issuance of one or more FASB Staff Positions on Interpretation 48:
