The FICPA is seeking nominations for three at-large members of its Nominations Committee. These three at-large members will be elected at the June 11, 2010, Board of Governors meeting being held in conjunction with the Annual Convention. All nominations due May 7, 2010.

The Annual Convention is a wonderful family getaway and opportunity to reconnect with your “FICPA family and friends”. The Convention offers an excellent variety of CPE, special social events and great local excursions. The FICPA is thrilled to be hosting the 2010 Annual Convention right here in our own backyard in Florida for the first time in more than 20 years! We have a terrific program in store.

- IRS Announces Tax Preparer Registration
The IRS has announced it will implement mandatory registration of all paid, signing tax return preparers as well as competency testing and education requirements for preparers who are not CPAs, attorneys or enrolled agents. In addition, Circular 230’s ethics rules will be extended to all return preparers. Additional Reading:

- IRS Issues Regulations, Guidance on Disclosure of Taxpayer Information
The IRS has amended the rules under IRC Section 7216 on when return preparers may disclose taxpayers’ return information and provided guidance to preparers on issues that arise in a number of common scenarios, including informing clients of tax law changes and sending them newsletters.
